Claws Of Power How to Use Items

Battle skills you buy or unlock — named in Steam patches and in Garlic Sprouts’ own build posts.

Last updated:

Battle items in Claws Of Power are one-shot skills you fire during a fight. They are not the same as equipment (permanent slots on a cat) and they are not redeem codes. This page only lists items that appear in Steam news, in the developer’s TapTap write-ups, or in an official Garlic Sprouts YouTube description.

Items Garlic Sprouts uses in his own builds

From the February 2026 post “Some cats and tools I’ve been playing with”:

  • Hold Position Whistle — your units stop moving for a short time. It sounds useless until you realise low-HP survivors from one wave can be frozen in place so they merge into the next push instead of walking into a blender. The August 26, 2026 patch awards the Garrison Whistle when you unlock the Shop. Treat that as the live name of the same idea unless a later note splits them.
  • Charge Horn — the opposite: your army speeds up. Use it to close on ranged enemies before they fire too many volleys, or to finish a base once the tank wall is down.
  • Clockwork Mouse — wind-up mice run across the field and drag the enemy formation away. A well-timed press can open a few free hits on their base. This is the honest version of a “lane press” tool — it does not widen a column of tiles that this game does not have.

Items added in Steam patches

  • Meow Mine (March 17 trial notes) — during battles you can unlock the ability to summon a Boss to assist. That is a panic-or-push button, not a passive farm. Save it for a stage that already taught you the enemy pattern.
  • Hand of God (demo update, August 7, 2026) — listed as a new item alongside Thick Iron Armor, idle system, and Steam Cloud. The note does not publish a tooltip. Do not invent damage numbers; try it in a fight you can afford to lose and watch what it actually does on your build.
  • Extra Fish — named in the official Garlic Sprouts YouTube reupload of a demo-era unit test (20 January 2026). The tester recommended it with Bacon Jack, Garfield, and Solo. Steam patch notes never printed a tooltip, so this wiki will not invent a dried-fish amount. If your build shows Extra Fish on the bar, treat it as a real named item from that video; see Demo vs full game.
  • Jack Fusion Device — exclusive to Bacon Jack. All Jacks on the field fly to a light point and fuse into Jack Hero, whose HP and attack scale with how many Jacks you sacrificed. The August 23 patch significantly increased HP and Attack of units summoned by the upgraded Jack Fusion Device. Full route: Jack Fusion Device.

Items versus equipment

Equipment is worn on a cat. Items are pressed in combat. Mixing the two is the real skill:

  • Garrison Whistle + Garfield (three-hit shield) lets a wounded shield cat live long enough for the next wave.
  • Charge Horn + Masashi (teleport on first contact) can dump a ninja onto the backline before the enemy reforms.
  • Clockwork Mouse + Solo (piercing arrows) creates a dragged clump that the arrows love.
  • Meow Mine as a second “boss” while your own Jack Hero is already fused is how you spend two big buttons on one push — expensive, decisive.

Midas Touch, Thick Iron Armor, and Clone Shovel are equipment, not battle items. They live on Equipment System. Clone Shovel (Stage 7, August 26) can spawn a clone after enough attacks; that clone is a combat effect hanging off gear, not a shop skill.

When to press, when to wait

The developer’s lane advice still applies. If you are too far forward, Charge Horn just makes your cats die farther from home. If you have not saved a wave, Clockwork Mouse pulls nothing useful. Hold Position is the item that forgives a messy fight: freeze the survivors, rebuild cost, send the next wave on top of them.

Game speed is a setting, not an item. The August 26 patch started saving the speed you picked. The August 27 patch stopped secret levels from inheriting 3× speed from normal levels. Do not confuse a speed toggle with a battle skill.

Shop, mercenaries, and “I ran out of buttons”

Unlock the Shop so Garrison Whistle is even on your bar. If a challenge stage still eats you after several tries, the March 17 notes added mercenaries you hire with gold. That is a progression safety net, not an item cooldown.

For loadout planning, keep a short bar: one hold, one go, one disrupt, plus Jack Fusion if Bacon Jack is in the deck. More buttons than that is how you press the wrong one in a snowfield manhole fight.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Fast answers to the questions players ask most.

Are battle items the same as equipment?

No. Items are pressed during a fight. Equipment sits in 1–2 slots on a cat. Midas Touch and Clone Shovel are equipment; Garrison Whistle is an item.

How do I get Garrison Whistle?

The August 26, 2026 Steam patch gives it when you unlock the Shop.

What does Meow Mine do?

The March 17 trial notes say it unlocks the ability to summon a Boss to assist in battle. No official cooldown number was published.

Is Jack Fusion an item or a cat upgrade?

It is a battle item exclusive to Bacon Jack. It consumes Jacks on the field to spawn Jack Hero. See [Jack Fusion Device](/guides/jack-fusion/).
